"If you want to survive the Mire you’ll listen when I give you an order. If you’d rather become a Toridae’s new chew toy then by all means, strike out on your own."
![]() Tullius is the clan’s master warrior and oversees all the training programs carried out within the Den's training hall. In addition to observing the day-to-day operations, Tullius is also responsible for leading the Den's gorilla warfare division and spends most of his time dragging teams of recruits through the Mire. A no nonsense dragon if ever there was one Tullius does not abide by dishonesty or disobedience among his trainees as both are liable to get them killed on the battlefield. The one exception to this clause might be Caligo, the leader of the covert operations division and the closest thing to family Tullius has managed to find. As one of the few dragons remaining who has been with the den since its founding Tullius is sometimes called upon to weigh his opinion in the Den’s affairs. Spending years slogging through Mire muck has left its mark on Tullius in more ways than one. The fetid smell of peat moss clings to him relentlessly and he is forever caked in dried mud. Tullius himself doesn’t seem to mind his own grimy appearance and is much more at home in the field than anywhere even remotely civilized. Due to a head injury sustained in battle long before he became a resident of the Den Tullius is incapable of mimicry. Instead, he’s stuck emulating the last thing he tried to mimic before his injury which was apparently a very surly combat expert. A few of Tullius’s original personality traits have managed to survive the trauma. Tullius has a surprising understanding of tailoring techniques and enjoys doll making in his spare time. The only physical sign of this trauma is a small scar over his left eye. Like many of the Den’s residents, Tullius’s position in the Den was not a premeditated event. Rather, Tullius stumbled upon the den in a fit of fugue that had plagued him on and off since acquiring his injury. Thinking him insane and potentially dangerous many lairs had turned him away when these strange flips in personality occurred. By the time Tullius wandered into the Black Pine Valley his fractured psyche had begun to rebuild itself and with the aid of the clans, previous healer Tullius's personality is at least consistent if not entirely original. After a time spent in the Den Tullius insisted the lair needed to be able to defend itself better and began giving all the residents basic combat training. From there his rise to the position of Master Trainer was confirmed. While Tullius isn’t the most companionable of dragons he has managed to build a small repertoire of dragons he considers friends and maybe even some he would consider family if pressed. Thebis and Argonia, the lairs founders, are close friends. All three of them have been there since the lairs early days and all are somewhat rough around the edges. Their shared experiences and collective desire to defend their home have made them steadfast friends. Tullius has had many children but almost all of them have left to carve a name for themselves amongst the armies of various deities. Only one remains unaccounted for, somewhere in the Shifting Expanse Mattong has vanished on his way to serve the Stormcatcher. Tullius has trained each of his kin personally and believes wherever Mattong may be, he must be surviving. Nonetheless, he still searches for his wayward son when he’s in the area. Though not related by lineage Tullius considers Caligo and Aion as his own children despite Caligo being older than him. That doesn’t mean he goes any easier on them if anything Tullius is tougher on them than any of his other trainees. Thankfully both are up to the challenge and meet Tullius’s gruff personality with strong wills of their own. Fortress of Ends excavation Tullius was responsible for the security of the excavation both during and after the site closed. As such he is simultaneously angry and guilty about what happened to Marco. Angry that Marco ignored protocol in the first place and guilty because he didn’t defend against the possibility of such an infraction coming from him in the first place. As a result of these two conflicting feelings, Tullius has made a point to snap Marco out of his funk whenever he seems to fall particularly depressed. Unfortunately, Tullius’s form of helping is usually fighting and he frequently ambushes Marco if it seems like he's slipping. Shockingly enough it seems like Tullius’s method of aid is working much more than anyone else in the lair could have anticipated. Apparently, it’s difficult to be thoroughly depressed when you’re focus is on overpowering a sudden and very annoying opponent. Tullius himself has added new defenses to the den and has made monthly combat training mandatory for all the den’s residents. |
