"Feel the tide turn." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Kyanite is one of the few dragons of the clan who was specifically sought not only for her abilities as a Water dragon, but for her natural skills in diplomacy. Koa, funnily enough, was the one who found her. In the midst of clan duties in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Koa's ears caught a sound that wasn't quite natural. He followed it, despite the annoyance of his party, and soon arrived at a Skydancer performing for coin. She twisted the water in a way that wasn't just beautiful to see. The water whistled and swirled, creating a sea song that filled the shells and reeds. It was an art form at the very least, but at the very best? It was something Koa could see helping their clan. Ice was solid, sure, but Kyanite certainly seemed capable enough to wield it. With a fire dragons help, she could make a deadly dragon. Koa hovered nearby after her show, listening in as she made polite conversation with nearby travelers. She spoke surely - confident - and even blind Koa could tell she paid full attention to her conversational partner. Approaching her, Koa offered her something she'd never had before: a job. A family. A respected position and the promise of a place to sleep each night. Without hesitation, she accepted. What would she do? she asked. Control the tides, he replied. Kyanite had the whole journey to the Icefields to wonder what that meant, but she soon realized. She was paired with Rika to test if Koa's hunch about her was right. The two went far out into the ice and, when Rika melted the solid ground beneath their feet in one powerful gust of breath, Kyanite took it all. And she made the tide. From nothing she made a wave and she pushed, desperate to prove she was capable enough, and sent the force of water down the ice in an impressive display of power. And so her position was earned. Before she had even entered the clan, she had earned respect. It was a novelty, respect. Something she hadn't quite had before outside of the brief awe she'd earned performing back home. And now she had a new home. |
