Dryad always had a particular taste for adventure. Even as a hatchling, she loved acting out the daring stories from her books. She liked to consider herself the dashing heroine, going to new places and meeting all sorts of new creatures. Grown up now, she's replaced some of that idealism with wary experience, but she still takes joy in going off into the unknown and discovering new things. Serving as the clan's Beastclan ambassador gives her plenty of opportunity to indulge herself, in travel, new cultures, and even a bit of danger.

Like a true light dragon, Dryad is very well-spoken and intelligent, which makes her an ideal diplomat. She's also more than a little cunning, quick to adapt, and not afraid of being unorthodox, which has come in handy during the times when talks begin to break down and she has to improvise. One thing she can always do is tell a good story, and she's defused many a situation growing tense with a cheerful “Did I ever tell you what my great great grandmother did in a situation very like this?” The mythical relative is usually completely fictional, but her gift to render a tale in exciting, over the top details that slyly make their arguments look petty and present a solution has helped her more than once. She's particularly proud of the time she convinced an entire war party of harpies bent on a raid to stand down, and worked out a treaty with them instead.

The clan has alliances of a sort with a few of the surrounding Beastclans, but they can be shaky on both side. Not all of their “allies” trust or like any dragons at all, no matter how friendly Dryad is, and not all the dragons of the clan are happy about allying with Beastclans, or believe a bunch of brute animals to be worth the trouble of dealing with. Dryad tries to maintain friendly relations, or at least neutral ones, to keep from borrowing trouble. She's used to acting as a go between for the dragons of her own clan and Beastclans, soothing high tempers on both sides. She outright refuses any Beastclan attempts to hire their clan to make war on another group, Beastclan or fellow dragon. But requests to buy information, or for some rival beastclan leader or hotheaded dragon to “vanish” she conveys dutifully back to her leader for consideration. Their clan's services are for sale as the clan decides is best, and beastclan gold spends the same as any.

Dryad prefers dealing with the Dunhoof centaur clans the most, since their longtime ties of diplomacy with dragon clans make them the easiest and most pleasant to deal with. She is even particular friends with the ambassador of the local Dunhoof clan, and they can often be seen walking together and sharing stories. She's also made inroads on befriending Dantalion, and his serthis friend Zezric, despite the fact that both of them are very quiet and rather gun-shy, preferring each other's company for the most part. She's always found the local Serthis clans rather intimidating, and welcomes the chance to get to know at least one more closely, as much as the dragon who befriended him in the first place. She hopes that it will help her improve her diplomatic skills. With Beastclan hostilities on the boil all over Sornieth, they are needed direly.
