The Desolate Queen
"Loneliness expresses the pain of being alone and solitude expresses the glory of being alone."
Vesper was born as she lived; alone. A solitary egg left to the harsh badlands of the boneyards, she broke out of the shell that had sheltered her from the relentless weather of the wasteland. Had it not been for Hemlock - who was rather fond of taking in abandoned eggs - Vesper's first and last breathes would have been drawn that day.

Growing under Hemlock's wings would have been a surreal experience for anyone, had they any idea what the dragon was truly capable of. Having no idea of the world outside of who she believed to be her father, Vesper was captivated by his teachings and thought nothing of his odd behavior; as far as she was concerned, all dragons were like him.

When Vesper reached adulthood, Hemlock's presence began to dissipate and his daily visits became bi-weekly - and when he had returned, he never spent much time around her, opting instead to focus on his other, younger children.
