Maple

Vein Maple, it is unknown where his narcissism and obsession with his appearance first started. As a hatchling he was the most outgoing of the clutch, but also the most humble. Never to take more than his share, and never to belittle anyone for how they looked or chose to present themselves. His parents were proud of him, and urged his siblings to be more like him. Kindhearted, witty, loyal, all these traits described this dragon as a child. His family was well off and always took care to reward, but never spoil. He was taught lessons in manners and how to be a gentleman to others.

His adolescent years were spent helping others, traveling the world in search of bettering those around him with gifts of knowledge and lessons of encouragement. Nothing could ring this dragon down. However, a darkness started somewhere in his heart, some would say it happened when he met an old witch along the road in his travels. A well decorated dragon, with gold and riches adorning her every scale. Enticed by the bewitchment of her almost ethereal beauty, Maple was captivated by her and wished to know more about this creature. Stories tell of months on end being spent with the witch, adorning her with gifts in an almost trance like state. He started to steal from others, taking anything he could to make the mistress happy and beautiful. But soon it wasn't enough for him, he had to make himself beautiful. That madness grew, and not only was his witch drowning in the most beautiful of things, so was he. Their hoard of riches grew to considerable size, but it was Maple's greed and narcissism that fueled this obsession. it was even starting to scare the possession he found the most beautiful, the witch herself.

It was on the night of his first year with the witch, a bloodmoon nonetheless, that rumor says Maple killed the lovely dragon and stole her riches. It is said that the jewels he wears are cursed to forever force him to see how ugly his heart is. No matter what he does to try to make himself beautiful, Mable will always see the darkness in his heart, the blood on his claws, the forever shifting ugliness that became such a beautiful dragon. He became obsessed with trying to fix himself, hoarding jewelry, preening himself for hours with no avail. There have even been times where Maple has ripped the scales from other dragons that he sees are more beautiful than himself in an attempt to replace his own terrible colors. A Frankenstein's monster driven mad by his own delusions and cursed trophies.
