Many seasons ago did Álmos meet the Madam. She was not the powerful force she is now, not yet the Madam; merely a wingless hatchling cringing from the unfairness of the world. Taking pity on her, Álmos took the child under its many wings; inviting her into their domain: a comfortable, rustic room capable of expanding infinitely upon itself. It was there that the Library took form.
After Ishmael's betrayal of the Madam's cause and her subsequent single-minded desire for revenge, Álmos began to doubt. Was this truly the right path? Were they blinded by their memories of that sweet young dragon?
It all came to a head when a child stumbled upon the library. Álmos, usually a ferocious guardian of the Library, saw the young Madam in the child and allowed them to stay for the time, hidden within the twisted and refracting halls of its domain.
Álmos' greatest fears were confirmed when the Madam found the child, and, paranoid after the betrayal, attempted to kill them. Álmos protected the child and confronted her, refusing to help her cause any longer. The Madam begged it to stay just a few more days, if only so the library could be moved out of Álmos' domain. It agreed, but when the time came, the Madam instead stabbed it with a powerful and ancient sword wrought of bone; chained it within its own haven; not quite alive, not quite dead.
Someday its rage may be unfettered... but today is not that day. For now, it is the unwilling guardian of the Library.
