Aedelwulf, or just "Wulf" as he often prefers to be called, was born the son to a powerful and brave, but general. This man was reckless, and did not often respect life. He believed that war and blood were the only path.
Wulf was raised this way, among his sisters. Each one of them was raised to be a soldier as well, and all of them loved it. The fury, and the fervor of battle felt amazing.

Wulf felt so much pride in it, until one day, he realized the consequence of his actions. He had never intended an innocent to be hurt. He thought what he was doing was good - that he fought for the kingdom his father served. But he was wrong.

Haunted by his remorse, he sought a way to remove such feelings forever. Wulf met with a seer that offered him a spell that would remove any form of regret he'd ever have. He agreed, but she warned him that such a thing would lead to his down fall. He didn't care.

His loss of emotion stunted him. When he returned to battle, he could fight again - but instead of feeling regret he felt absolutely nothing. No more victory, no amount of gold could satisfy him. His sisters worried over him. They were confused over what had happened to him and tried to console him but he only lashed out at them all.

Wulf had all but given up, and dragged himself into the woods. All he wanted now was peace and quiet.

He fell asleep in the woods, inside a thicket that he used as a makeshift shelter. It was when he woke that he found a woman looking at him curiously. She had never seen him before, and neither did he, but he concluded she was from the kingdom neighboring them.
The woman shook her head at him, seeing him in this low state, and offered him a hand up.

"What have you done to yourself?" She asked him.
