Biography

"Forgive me, Plaguebinder. Please take these children as your own.
Give them new life elsewhere, to make up from the one I stole from them..."

Nicknames: Mort, M, Crow (disused)

Once a witch doctor who served the Plaguebringer, Mortimer was exiled from the Scarred Wasteland before he wandered to Dragonhome to settle down as an herbalist.

Orphaned from a very young age, Mortimer had no name, no parents, and no clue leading to what his origins were. From the moment he could first fly, he wandered about the harsh wasteland as a loner, begging and stealing whenever he needed to do so to survive. He even resorted to pilfering the remains of long-dead dragons and beastclan entities for mere scraps of food.

As a result of being exposed to a myriad of diseases, Mortimer himself caught a deadly infection. With no knowledge of how to combat this strange illness, he was destined to perish. Just as he was knocking on death's door, a mysterious cloaked dragon approached. This dragon reeked like a dead rat that fell into the Wyrmwound that was then fished out and left to rot over the course of a summer. For a moment, Mortimer thought that this was death himself, come to take another insignificant life for his growing collection.

However, this Mirror introduced himself as a plague doctor, and posed one simple offer to him: live and serve as a witch doctor, or perish out on the streets, forgotten forever. In his stupor, Mortimer accepted this gambit, and the dragon bound and gagged him and took him somewhere far away.

The next time he woke up was in a dark, unsanitary cave. Over the next few excruciating months, he was operated on, sometimes having bits of his skin taken off in chunks to combat the infection as it spread. Finally, the disease was rid from his body, but not before it left horrible scarring all over, especially around his neck. He was then officially taken in by the group of witch doctors who treated him to serve as an apprentice. There, he was given a new life, and with it, the name "Crow".

However, their methods were rather questionable. The other plague doctors delighted themselves through intentionally infecting their patients and observing how the diseases progressed through their bodies. They justified this by claiming it was all for the progression of medicine. The strong survive, the weak perish.

Crow, however, did not share this morbid curiosity with them and was outright disgusted with how they conducted their research. But the only two choices for him were to either live in the harsh wilds of the Scarred Wasteland alone, or continue his research with them. Not wanting to return to the life of being an orphan again, Crow continued these questionable experiments. Eventually, he was able to shut out his guilt and true feelings towards his superiors, and was able to convince himself he was doing the right thing.

17 years later, his initiation ceremony to become a full-fledged plague doctor was set to take place near the edge of the Wyrmwound. Many an aspiring plague doctor had
