Biography

lei .
powerful / leader / selfish

Bone magic, an old and powerful magic, is now only used by those from the original ancient clans. It has been considered to be lost with the times, and only those of the clans bother to continue with the tradition. The olden magic uses the bones of elder dragons long since past, and draws their strength to do any number of spells. When they are young, hatchlings will be brought to the boneyard once they begin to show signs of power. Once there, they will be allowed to roam, and search for a bone that calls to their magic. This bone will become the center of their powers, and will be used in every magical ritual by the dragon. The dragons become dependant on the bone due to this, and to have their bone taken or destroyed is considered one of the worst punishments imaginable. It is believed by magical elders that different forms of bones have varying types of power in them, and that who the bone belonged to can determine the future of the young magic wielders.

From a young age, Lei was considered to be extremely powerful. She began to experience magic at a far younger than normal age, and was the youngest in her group when led to the boneyards. Unlike her peers, she was not immediately drawn to a bone. Growing frustrated at the possibility of being considered a failure for not finding her bone, she ventured away from her group, and the elders watching over them.

Lei ended up drawn over to where the original leaders of her clan was buried, and felt a draw to a patch of ground that she knew contained her bone. She began to dig, unaware of which leaders' bone she was taking. All that was on her mind was the knowledge that she had found her source of power, her one and only. She was so wrapped up in her digging, she didn't notice the elders coming up behind her.

They were shocked to discover that at such a young age, she had power that matched and was compatible to one of the original creators of the clan. Many of them were proud of her, even through their shock. News of how one of her bones was from a creator travelled throughout the clan, and reached the ears of the Ruler of the clan. The Ruler was overfilled with anger and fear over her power. They believed that one day Lei would question their rulership and overtake their position.

As Lei aged, she became more obsessed with the bones used in her magic, and began to believe that wearing the bones will increase her power. Due to the age of the magic, there were many laws on how to properly respect the bones they used for power, so Lei wearing them was considered a great disrespect to the fallen dragons. Her family tried to hide her attire from dragons outside of the family, and to convince her to stop her ways. Lei refused to listen to them, believing they only wanted to stop her exploring of the magic.

Her use of bones as decoration was discovered in the end, and the Ruler was giddy. They finally could banish Lei, and be rid of any worry that she may overtake them one day. Lei was given a a public banishment in front of the entirety of the clan.

Lei never once considered the results of her actions, but she believed she would be fine with banishment. She would be free to do as she pleased, and be able to roam the world in search of other magics. She never expected anything other than a banishment to take place.

The Ruler stepped up to Lei, and looking her in the eyes, took her original bone from her. Without breaking eye contact, they began to snap the bone in small pieces, and then threw it into the dirt in front of Lei's feet.

Lei was shocked, and sick throughout. Her power was broken, snapped into those small pieces at her feet. She scrambled to grab every single piece she could, along with the dirt and dust, before she was hauled away by the protectors of the clan to the outside world.
