Leona
Professor of Ethics

Leona is a pillar. While other professors fall subject to favoritism and biased opinions, she holds everyone to the same standards. She does not think that these standards are unreasonable, and most dragons preach them to hatchlings in their nests. Be truthful, be humble, be kind. Some think her steadfast devotion to these ideals makes her pretentious and boorish, despite those being the very things she seeks to eliminate.
Her classes are very odd, and consist almost exclusively of discussion. Many students believe it to be an easy grade; many students find themselves dropping it after the first quarter. Those who do finish are required to present and moderate a discussion on some kind of moral quandary. The keeping of familiars, the quest for dominance, and even the ostracism of the Beast Clans have all be discussed. These presentations are held in the Great Hall, and are open to anyone - student, faculty, or visitor - who wishes to attend. Particularly controversial topics have drawn the entirety of the student body, and one presentation lasted for three full days.
Those who do complete the course leave with a better understanding of Leona's moral stubbornness, and will defend her to any who dare call her obstinate. They often end up painted with that same brush, of course, but they stand proudly as pillars themselves: beacons of what dragonkind could be, should they ever care to try. And while Leona always did her best to remain unbiased of the students, she always harbored a soft spot for those who took her teachings to heart. She would always stand a little bit taller for them, speak a little bit louder on their behalf. She knew what it was like to stand alone, but that didn't mean that they had to, too.

"Another new student, hm? Did they abandon you for some explosion or another? I'll tell you what - everyone expects explosions and fantastic feats, but if you keep your nose clean and your mind open you'll do just fine. Welcome to the Academy, little one."
