Amaterasu is a true anomaly to the Pearlcatcher name. 'Vulgar' was a word often used to describe the attitudes of her brethren, and she quickly separated herself from them despite their taunts and jeers that she would never make it without them. They gossiped behind her back, and in those moments, she knew that she would never be like them.
The dust of the Highland Scrub was stifling, and the carrion birds that circled overhead watched her all too closely. But never once, did she falter. She would prove them wrong. With her rare and beloved texts on her back, she carried on through the Sunbeam Ruins, to her kind's homeland. Genuinely, she hoped to find others like herself. But they were all the same... Vultures. Squawking carrion birds like the ones who would have struck her down had she shown any weakness. And so, she carried on, wandering and discouraged, until she'd found her way to a strange land shrouded in mist. Her map, well worn and marked, denoted that she had made her way to the Viridian Labyrinth. It was beautiful, she thought to herself. And so, she delved into research, barely noticing that shapes began to grow in the mist that had begun to surround her. Amaterasu was the very first dragon to stumble smack dab into the middle of the territory that Lockwood and Cecelia, the progenitors of the Clan in the Mists, had laid out for themselves. Apologetic and polite, Amaterasu began to gather her things so that she could leave...until Lockwood began to question her studies in a deep and equally polite tone. Having never met a Guardian, having heard awful things from her Pearlcatcher kin, Amaterasu's interest was piqued. And so, she sat and spoke...and the progenitors listened. For hours, they spoke--of lands far away, of the land around them. Of the deities, of all manner of wonderful things that filled the young female's heart and mind with wonder and knowledge. And so, Amaterasu the Rune-Scryer as Lockwood deemed her, became the first member of their little group--a trusted advisor and beloved friend who shared and still shares the ideals of the progenitors who dared give her a chance to show what she was really made of.
