Lore After Randi and Valtane had settled down in Clan Adeptica of the Starfall Isles, they decided they wanted to pass on their beautiful looks to a new generation. Their first nest yielded only one egg, but Valtane was determined not to let this one hatchling feel that he was a disappointment, as he himself had felt when he was a hatchling. When the one egg hatched, Randi was delighted that her son had inherited two of her own colors, and gave him what she thought of as an upper-crust-sounding name. Braxton grew up as his parents' only hatchling, and they both doted on him incessantly. He inherited his mother's love for high fashion and gossip, and his father's love of shiny and colorful baubles. He was a bit of a spoiled brat at first, but then Snowblossom suggested to his parents that it might help him to work with Thundercloud and Celine, taking care of the unbonded familiars. He gave it a try and enjoyed it, learning the importance of work and responsibility from them, and even forming a bond of his own with a Construction Mith, which he thought was one of the coolest creatures on Sornieth. Later, he inherited a Runic Bat from his father, Valtane, after a Coral Basilisk decided to follow Valtane home. By then, Braxton thought the Runic Bat was even cooler than his old Construction Mith, thanks to his burgeoning fascination with temporal mechanics. It all started when Lilia, Cerulia, and Enchantment discovered the stable spatial warp that led to their new lair in the Starwood Strand. Braxton found the idea fascinating, and began to wonder: If magical phenomena like spatial warps and portals could lead to other places, that is, other points in space, why couldn't they lead to other points in time? Ever since then, Braxton has enjoyed reading every book and article on the subject of temporal magic that he can get his claws on. He's even performed a few of his own small experiments, using the power of temporal magic to create such useful effects as restoring broken pottery, causing fruits to ripen sooner, and keeping perishable foods from spoiling. |
