Iceheart

The beginning. On a night ravaged by one of the fiercest winter storms seen in an age, a dark spirit named Narthias came upon an abandoned nest at the very edge of the Tangled Wood. Something had destroyed the clutch within the gnarled roots of the dead tree. Upon searching through shattered shells, Narthias discovered one solitary egg. It had managed to survive the attack by being cast out of the nest and caught in a small hole in the ground. Narthias took the egg and carried it to the small stronghold of stone and tree within the Wood.

From this egg hatched a Mirror female as cold and fierce as the winter storm she was discovered within. More feral than social, she earned the name Iceheart. As she grew, it was clear her power and simple beauty were but pleasant accessories to her relentlessly brilliant spirit. Granting her a place within the fortress, Narthias helped her to grow and learn. Soon, Iceheart had established herself as Alpha of the territory and entered her first heat.

Although many males were drawn to participate in her first mating flight, a crafty little Fae male from the wild managed to win her through sheer cunning. Most of the other males left to seek other females with which to mate. But a few remained, their eyes set upon winning the queen the next time she rose to mate. Thus began Iceheart's flight, much to the reluctance of Narthias--who began to prepare for the inevitable need to expand the fortress for future dragons to live.
