Job Description
As the Clan Leader, Kuro makes the final decisions and sets the general rules for the Clan. That being said, he's not alone when it comes to leading the Clan. Other members assist in different aspects of the Clan's systems, such as the Guard Leader, Tyrus, being in charge of the general security of the home territory. His roles also include keeping the peace within the Clan, it's Allies and neighboring Clans, as well as keeping the Clan healthy and happy. Whether at the home cave and on the road, these roles are generally the same. But when it comes down to it, he is on top of his duties and often goes above and beyond what's expected of him.

With this said, Kuro isn't seen as an all-knowing leader that everyone want's to go to for help, because everyone know's that he isn't. This makes his job a little easier for if a Clan member has a problem, then they would seek out the dragon who could help them the most. He pretty much let's everyone do as they please, so long as it doesn't harm any other member of the Clan in any way, so help is easy to come by and necessary. That said, unless no-one else can help or if the situation is very serious, Kuro's main role at home is basically motivating the Clan to live their life to their fullest ability and putting the occasional Clan dispute to rest.

While one or two neighboring Clan leaders think that Kuro is rather "weak" for his choice of how to lead his Clan, Kuro is fully capable of tending to his Clan's needs--including defending every single member of his Clan, beast OR dragon, and their freedom to roam and have a safe home to return to. It's just that he feels like he doesn't really "lead" the Clan in the traditional sense. To Kuro, everyone is their own person and has a right to do what they wish, for they all have their own story to unravel. That said, as the "leader" he likes to believe that he is no higher than any other, nor more special. Hence why everyone in the Clan loves his leadership so much and will readily defend Kuro just as good as he would them.

Bio.
Kuro was born into a rather normal pack of Mirror Dragons. His father was a Warrior and his mother was a Hunter/Gatherer. To this day he has never once mentioned them by name. That being said, his parents were always busy providing for the Clan and had little time to watch over him. So Kuro was usually attended to by a Nest and Hatchling Caretaker by the name of Nisa. Nisa was a kind, generous, and tender dragoness and treated Kuro as if he was her own hatchling. But, even under Nisa's supervision, Kuro tended to have a lot of free time on his hands. As a hatchling, he was always curious about the world around him and was anxious to get out and explore. He was the type of dragon who would wander off on his own only to come back hours or even days later either littered with injuries or carrying new discoveries. Such disappearances often got him into trouble, especially with the many elders of his Clan, who disapproved of his boldness. On one of said adventures during Kuro's 13th summer he met his familiar, Toris, who soon became a sort of guardian to the adventurous young dragon.

Once Kuro reached Adolescence his adventurous spirit could no longer be contained and at this age, he was old enough to decide how he would serve his Clan. He chose to be a Warrior and part-time Hunter. He chose these jobs to try and quell his curiosity, as everyone kept telling him to, but they were only very briefly able to satisfy his adventurous and daring personality. Soon, Kuro wanted more. He felt trapped in a cage, unable to fly or run and wanted out.

One day near his 21st spring, he unknowingly stumbled onto his escape. During a routine scouting mission, Kuro met a lone dragoness by the name of Ilia. She was a wild but kind-spirited character that loved the thrill of exploring almost as much, if not more, than Kuro himself. The two soon became close friends, Kuro often leaving his clan for extended periods of time in order to explore further and further away from his home territory with Ilia. Over the course of a few summers, the two became an inseparable and formidable force. But, alas, Kuro's Clan soon became suspicious of his disappearances and eventually found out about the lone wanderer, Ilia. Kuro was forbidden to see her, his work and adventuring permanently suspended. Unable to take this newfound confinement, Kuro said his goodbyes to Nisa, the only one who had supported him all throughout his life, and left with Ilia, his faithful friend Toris following right behind him.

Over many summers of traveling across the various territories and islands of Flight Rising, Kuro and Ilia picked up quite a few travelers and wanderers into their runaway group. Eventually, after realizing that they did not want to part ways with many of these other dragons and beasts, they both decided to start up their own makeshift traveling group. Today, Kuro is the proud leader of the Silent Shadows Clan--a Clan that is almost always moving, always travelling, and always eager to experience the unknown. It is a Clan of dragons and beasts who have either left their own Clan, got lost, were abandoned, or just wanted to tag along for a taste of adventure. To say the least, it's a band of misfits, oddities and rag-tag species that have become a makeshift family.

Travelling, however, was costly to some of the younger and older members of the Clan who sometimes couldn't keep up with everyone, even if they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. So, as the Clan grew larger, Kuro decided to claim some land for the Clan to have someplace to come back to for rest or a place for the members of the Clan who want to nest or are weary from travel to stay until the roaming group got back. It also served as storage for any traded or collected goods. With his Clan finally settled into its new home and traveling routine, Kuro is proud to be the creator and protector of such a diverse, never-a-dull-day-anymore, and adventurous group of beings.

~ His name is from the Japanese word 九 (ku) meaning "nine" and 郎 (rou) meaning "son."
~ "Kuro" is a name that was traditionally given to the ninth son of a family.

Kuro is what most would call a natural social bee. Though Kuro's initial brashness and overly-exaggerated personality may throw many dragon's off, he's a rather social dragon that's always up for a good talk. The more dragons to talk to, then the happier Kuro is. He's always up for a new experience, so meeting new characters across his travels is always a thrilling experience for him. But, even though he may view many as mutual friends or companions, his true friends are the only ones who know him best. That said, though he gets along with everyone he meets, Kuro has a small circle of friends that include specific members of his Clan and the surrounding dragon and Beast Clan's. Ilia, his Mate; Tyrus, his Guard Captain; Teesho, the Familiar Caretaker; and Fray the Wintermane Bowman, are some of these close friends. He would not hesitate to lay down his life over and over again in order to defend his Clan and those he considers his friend. This unwavering loyalty and dedication is shown every day as he leads his Clan to seeing brighter dawns ahead.

Bio.
Ever since he was little, Toris was alone. He doesn't like to talk much about his past or his family, so no-one really knows much about his life from before. All that can be determined is the fact that Toris spent most of his younger years traveling alone. He never stayed in one place for too long, and was always weary of others.

On the day Kuro and Toris met there had been a particularly strong winter storm affecting the area. Toris had been passing through Kuro's home territory when it hit, and Kuro and Toris were both caught in it. Earlier, Kuro had been tailing a hunting party for fun. Now, the hatchling had built a small snow den to wait out the worst of the blizzard when it appeared. Caught by the wind, a young Toris just so happened to crash right into the makeshift shelter. This led to a moment of confusion and struggle as both of them tried to figure out what was going on and who was attacking who. When they both realized that, no, no-one was really trying to attack the other and no, Kuro was not going to try and eat Toris, the two came to a mutual agreement. They would share the den until the storm cleared and then part ways. As life is, things didn't turn out so simple. They both ended up staying in the den for a couple days and over the course of that time Kuro and Toris became mutual friends. When the storm cleared up enough, Kuro took Toris back to the main Clan where he stayed until the weather cleared completely. Another week later, with sunny skies above, Toris found that he couldn't leave Kuro. He'd seen the young hatchling's lonely life and rather enjoyed his bold (and sometimes endearing) company. So he decided to stay and, over time, became Kuro's full-time Familiar.
