Backstory

Abandoned as an egg, Nepenthes hatched and grew in the shadow of the Behemoth itself. The Shrieking Wilds were his home from the moment his wings were strong enough to carry him away from the great tree, and he's considered himself part of the landscape ever since.

However, despite an upbringing steeped in the element of nature itself, Nepenthes has little magical inclination. It has long been rumored that the mirror dragon's egg was laid and left in the forest by a pair of Plague parents, and that the linens he's wrapped in cover diseased scars that the Viridian Labyrinth could not heal. And behind his emerald eyes, beneath the call of the Gladekeeper that sings in his veins (the only entity he regards as anything close to a mother), that might very well be true. Antirrhinum, his life mate and devoted partner, is the only other dragon in the clan who knows for certain.

A counter to his mate's more ethereal form of guidance, Nepenthes is the undisputed defender and guardian of the clan. A fearless fighter and frightening adversary, there's little that could get between him and those he has chosen to protect. However, don't expect much friendliness out of him. He treats his position as a duty, a necessary means of repaying Antirrhinum for ending his days as a lone hunter. Prickly and calculating, he isn't the most social of dragons, but he will offer an occasional bit of wisdom to the hatchlings who desire the secrets of the forest.
