Rathnor, the Feral King and consort to Mirathorn, is not a part of the clan proper nor one of its leading guardians. He is extremely wild and often wanders away for long periods of time. He is violent and unpredictable, and only fond of Mirathorn - who is the only one who can keep him in check. Despite being the father of many dragons, Mirathorn must chase him away after laying a clutch of eggs, or Rathnor will attempt to eat the hatchlings. He is feared by the younger dragons and distrusted by the adults, but the clan's veterans have developed a careful camaraderie with him. None dare turn their back to him, and only Mirathorn seems capable of persuading him to peace.

He does not seem to be religious, nor show interest in civilization. Instead, he is of the wilds. He will occasionally hunt with Mirathorn, and even more occasionally, some of the clan veterans. Rathnor is territorial and vicious when crossed by outsiders, but seems to protect the clan when threatened. It is certain that if Mirathorn ever lost reign over the clan, Rathnor would go wit her - to the relief of everyone else.
