Biography

Lavan was the second dragon to join the Clan of the Enchanted Eden Spruce, and the first male. He’d found Iona clearing out the nesting grounds one day and just never left. Theirs were the clan’s first hatchlings, and they were there to welcome every new dragon joining the clan. Well, Iona welcomed them. Lavan didn’t turn out to be the sort of dragon one would use the word “welcome” for: intolerant, hot-headed, high-and-mighty. As dragons trickled and flowed into the clan, he lorded over them with his status as progenitor. Hatchlings giggled and dared each other to approach him and risk his ire. Older dragons sighed and shook their heads; Lavan was just rude. He’d never learn.
Lavan’s least favorite dragon, however, was a young Skydancer by the name of Eveleen. She’d… somehow… ended up in the Viridian labyrinth through what Lavan imagined was a long series of criminal escapades. She was flighty, empty-headed, and useless, and Iona had taken her in, against all of Lavan’s advice. For weeks, he tried to convince Iona to make her leave. Iona refused. Lavan begged her, and swore he’d leave the clan himself if Eveleen didn’t. She still refused. Evidently, she preferred this empty eggshell of a dragon she’d taken on to Lavan, her forever mate. Lavan saw red. He started avoiding Iona, trying to catch Eveleen on her own so he could bypass his mate and get rid of her himself. For a month or so, she managed to avoid him, until one day, he caught her unawares as she was hunting. Lavan jumped on her and scraped at her with his claws, screaming, but he hadn’t expected that Eveleen knew how to fight. She threw him off and wounded his wings. He slunk back to the clan, where Iona patched him up while telling him off so loudly that the entire clan could hear. Eveleen was even more Iona’s favorite, after that. But his wings never fully healed, and so his hatred never fully went away...

Now Eveleen has long since gone to serve the Gladekeeper, but Lavan still can't trust Iona and hides away invisibly, only peeking his head out to give Iona a rose.
