Somewhere in the Gladevines an absent-minded male guardian dragon once placed a hoard of pearls in his nest.

He would soon realize his mistake.

Columbia hatched just a few days before the Rockbreaker's Ceremony and immediately took a liking to all shiny things - gold, brass, gemstone, the sheen of her own body (although she would never admit it), you name it, she likes it. By the end of her first month in life, she had already learned the names of all the gemstones in Sorienth; she plans to study steampunk next, and then perhaps the precious metals and the flora and fauna of Kelp Beds and Crystal Pools. Precocious and incredibly intelligent, she nevertheless is a trickster at heart and enjoys pranking her siblings and parents more than anything else. Something just ever so slightly off about the lair decor today? Maybe a piece of apparel lying in the vault where it doesn't belong? Columbia, wait, where did you just go...

Columbia grew into a great beauty, shining like the gems she so admired, and so before long, there was talk of finding her a mate - perhaps even a triple gem gened male, in the words of rumor, to "match her station". Lounging by the gardens, Columbia secretly scoffed at this; she did harbor a wish to leave home - the dragons of the Viridian Labyrinth (especially her close relatives) could get a little too complacent and stuffy for her taste sometimes - but finding a mate for the sake of it seemed irrational to her. She craved freedom, knowledge, and good jokes and puns - matched pair life just didn't seem to... offer that. But where could she go?

Luckily, Columbia didn't have to harbor an existential crisis for long (not like she would have anyway, really). A course on mineralogy opened up in the Mirrorlight Promenade in the Light domain, and Columbia eagerly applied. She packed and left home before the courier even arrived with the acceptance, and has been performing consistently at the top of her class. Now, she feels at home in the Sunbeam Ruins, where the pursuit of knowledge is paramount and many dragons do not seem committed to her parents' traditional idea of family. As far as Columbia is concerned, a good day is when she can freely listen to her favorite beats, examine shiny things (and preferably keep them forever), and casually fly around looking fabulous. She is currently working as the clan's mineralogist to save up funds to buy more precious stones of her own - like her father before her (but deliberately unlike him), she is nesting her eggs with gems. Her help in expanding the clan has been indispensable, and her vast geologic knowledge is paramount.
