Umbra

Umbra rose from the blackened dust of the Ashfall Wastes as a formless, thick fog. The unfortunate miners that released the fog couldn't have known that their pick would strike some vestige of an ancient entity. The miners didn't run at first, but as soon as the thick vapors began to take the shape of an amorphous maw of teeth, they fled as quickly as wing and claw could take them. The maw snapped after them, but soon settled and solidified into the shape of one of the many breeds of dragons found on this planet. The dragon rumbled and squinted at the daylight before observing his surroundings. Hazy memories of vast space and indiscriminate consumption of anything between soon sharpened into his most recent—the fight against eight dragon gods. He had not been alone, no. There were others like him... and another part of him, sundered in half during the battle. He turned his four eyes to the broken fossil not a meter away from him: just the tip of one of his teeth that had fallen to the planet below.

They succeeded in fending us off...

Umbra snorted, clearing his nostrils of ash. How long he had slumbered he did not know, but he knew that he was nowhere near the full might of his power. For now he would have to explore this place, and ponder this new existence as a creature, and not a primordial aspect.

Many a year later, Umbra remained a mostly solitary creature, only made approachable by both his mate who was perhaps more tenacious than he, and his other half whom he found some years after his rebirth. Accepting his new place and, to some extent enjoying the chance of role, he acts as a reclusive protector of the clan his mate, Rahba, and Elsiba formed. If he is not spending time with Rahba or watching Elsiba make things, he is often carving bones.

Most of the clan keeps their distance from him, as his strange, misty hide seems quite unnatural and they've heard of the viciousness in which he had rended other dragons.

As the Gaolers emerged from solitary depths in search of shade remnants such as Umbra, he took their very form, electing to hide in plain sight and leading Seekers away from Elsiba.

Traits: Publically grumpy, though he's fairly relaxed and even mischevious around the precious few he is actually fond of. Even if he doesn't personally care for many in his clan, he will fiercely protect them because Rahba and Elsiba care for them.

Likes: The cold, lounging with his mate, watching Elsiba make things, carving bone.
