Biography

From Nuishe's journal: spacertextspacertextspacertextspacespacespacespacespacespacBXL4VHg.png

Magnaporthe is a garish, rowdy Ridgeback who showed up more or less uninvited. Oh, I'm sure the Blight was more than happy to take her in, but she's still so combative and full of beans that I'm only half sure she's infected at all. Some days, from the way she acts, it seems like she's only here because she wants to be.

She was the first and only one of us willing to humor Kensinjia's idea of a Sporefall Hollow Writer's Guild. She took to writing with exactly the kind of zeal that Kensinjia was looking for, but Magnaporthe being Magnaporthe, she didn't quite do it as Kensinjia intended.

Rather than composing dramatic poems, flowery verses, intriguing novels, or brilliant short stories, Mags has fallen in love with what I can only describe as "fanfiction."

Day in and day out, I find a massive pile of glittering green scales huddled in the far corner of Cyathus's meeting room. She's crouching there with hunger in her eyes, glancing at her clanmates and scribbling frantically at a piece of parchment with handwriting so awful that I can't believe she knows what it says.

Hours later, she unveils her newest masterpiece to Kensinjia, who reads it and wonders where in the world she went wrong. Nevertheless, since Mags is the only other member of the Writer's Guild, her work gets published front and center as an advertisement, to try and get everyone else interested in the written word.

I read yesterday's trashy romantic encounter story this morning, on my way to my morning meal. I'm sorry, Magnaporthe, but it was so awful that I really don't feel like writing ever again. The sentence "Tylophoron gazed dreamily into Agrogaster's glistening crimson oculars" alone was enough to kill my desire to pick up my quill until now, after sunset.

I mocked her, but she's putting so much more effort into these fanfictions than I anticipated. She has likely written more words about an imaginary secret love affair between Urnula and Crinipellis than I have written about the Wyrmwound Blight. And, while I still find "shipping" your clanmates distasteful at best, I believe that effort does deserve to be recognized.

The only trouble is, I'm not sure how to do that without catching her attention and potentially earning myself a spot in a future fanfic.

Maybe I'll just leave her an anonymous gift - some food or glitzy baubles, perhaps, with an encouraging note. Yes, that's a good idea. Give her some recognition without being recognized myself. I think I will do that tomorrow.

I think she's psychic.

No, honestly.

She knew it was me, even though nobody saw me prepare the package or leave it in her room. She couldn't have recognized my handwriting, because nobody reads my journal but me. Yet she still knew it was me, as evidenced by the thank-you note I found in the entrance of my chamber this morning.

And in case that wasn't enough, her writings are coming true.

Not in the sense that dragons are directly acting out her prose, of course - Tylophoron just isn't the type to, what, gaze dreamily into Agrogaster's eyes. But, truthfully, she wasn't far off - I saw Agrogaster give Tylophoron a friendly nuzzle, and Tylophoron's reaction was... telling.

And who could forget that cake Crinipellis just baked? I'm pretty sure that was a proposal.

It's making me superstitious. I'm not looking forward to a story featuring myself. I wouldn’t want to know who she’d pair me with.
