  He's one of the dragons that skipped a rewrite. A greater deity keeps making mistakes and resetting the entire world. On the second rewrite La was absent but on the third he returned, so he basically has not existed during the duration of an entire world being born and eventually being reset. He remembers all of his time spent not existing along with his first life since he was never reset, just removed and added back later. I'm sure he'll make the most of this life, and ideally it will be the last lifetime he has to live through.

These two are still so funny to me. Yeah, La's circumstances were weird, but they completely preserved him from the weirdness of my lore. He is the most normal guy ever. Standford is by far one of the most genuinely upsetting dragons you can come across, and La is sooooo lucky that Stan was utterly enamored by his odd disposition (normality) and adores it. Otherwise, Stan would be able to make the poor guy cry in literal seconds.

Oh! His quote isn't actually about him or his partner, yeah Stan can be mean, but what allows her to have that bite is her genuine understanding of other dragons. The actual reason La got left behind was because the sea had to use the memories of the dragons that it could save to recreate the dragons that were lost. It was a rush job, so things were easily left out if there was no really connection between the two individuals. La was completely forgotten, something that would have followed him into this life if he had not been forced out of his comfort zone by an aggressively friendly stranger. It actually has a much more positive connotation now, there is someone who sees him and will remember him fully. If there is another reset, and there will be, this time he will return whole.
