Personality
Fierce and fiery, Malazan is a short-tempered Coatl who finds it quite difficult to keep her cool. She is quite proud and determined, never putting herself in a situation that may cause her to lose her dignity lest she has a chance of emerging the victor, such as in a battle situation. She will defend herself with claw and tongue alike, and always stands with her muscles tensed for a fight. She is fiercely loyal to her mate and often takes charge when he hesitates to. Though she loves all of the hatchlings she mothers, she is quite quick to push them away, not wanting them to get too attached before leaving to serve a deity of reside in a new clan.
Occupation
The Clan of the Petalfall Copse is a relatively peaceful group, but when it comes to fighting with other dragons, they know they can rely on Malazan. She is a vainglorious warrior who moves from one enemy to the next with the celerity and fluidity of a snake. Fern realized her potential from the moment she joined the clan and allowed her to join the small army of warriors.
Extra Information
  • Her familiar is a Death Seeker named Bladebeak, who often helps her finish off her enemies. He is quite large for one of his kind.
  • Malazan allowed Serenity, an artistic Imperial whom she once was rather infatuated with, to paint the fiery tree design on her.

History
Malazan was kicked out of many clans as a hatchling due to her tendency to bite and claw incessantly. She was eventually raised in a camp of Fire dragons, all warriors seeking to train aspiring fighters. Malazan was one of five who did not succumb to the harsh training regime. Now an arrogant and smug adolescent, Malazan sought clans searching for fighters. After discarding two clans because she believed them to be weak, Malazan explored the Viridian Labyrinth in search of a home.

She encountered a scavenging Wildclaw, being mauled by an aggressive manticore. She saved him and treated his injuries in a hollow dug out beneath a tree. After recovering, he was deeply grateful and offered to bring her to his clan. Without hesitating, she accepted, and the duo walked to the lair of the Clan of the Petalfall Copse. Upon seeing Malazan, Fern, the leader, was suspicious. However, the dragon she rescued vouched for her, and Malazan explained that she was a strong warrior.

She was accepted, and soon realized that the Wildclaw she had come to the aid of, Flame, cared deeply for her. After she decided that she returned his affections, Flame and Malazan announced that they were mates. Though Malazan had initially resolved never to bear young, Flame reminded her of what tough hatchlings she could have. By saying this, he convinced her, and since then the two have been parents of many clutches.
