Backstory
Nothing mattered to her. She didn't care if there were horrors chasing her. She didn't care if she was even on the brink of death. All Elle thought was, run, run, run, as fast as you can! It was terrible. After being enslaved by a drunken mirror she had had enough. Trembling and shivering as she slipped and slithered in the dark, she could almost see fierce red eyes gazing down on her, the eyes of that mirror. And finally she tripped unknowingly and fell flat on her face. As Elle scrambled up, lights popping in her eyes, she found that she had slipped again. With a demented wail she was sprawled on the ground as the dark night sky thundered imperiously from above. And just like that, the rain poured down, slapping her wet cheeks repeatedly and jeeringly. And with that she blacked out, trembling uncontrollably from the cold. When Elle awoke she blinked from the unexpected magenta light. She found herself inside a cozy room, where a silvery glow was shimmering in front of her. A young imperial stood in front of her, his wispy green eyes both afraid and concerned. He wore sparkling silver filigree armor that stood out in the pink light, glowing.
"Don't mind me," he grumbled.
"Right," Elle replied, feeling her cheeks go warm. "But I'm fine, really!"
Her heart started pounding with excitement. She felt no fear at all and she was marveling in a feeling of great elation. "Where am I?" she asked eagerly, bouncing on her bed. "The Ancient Observatory, where the Arcanist reigns," grunted the imperial.
"Show me around, please?" Elle begged. "And before he could reply, she added, "And what is your name, may I ask?"
"Shuji," the imperial muttered.
"I'm Elle," Elle said, beaming. "Nice to meet you, Shuji!" ~Everglades
