Biography
SCILLAMAR the soothsayer
mage | fortune-teller
Scillamar does not frequently strike other dragons as the sort to engage in magic or mysticism of any sort. He is practical, solemn, and tends to focus single-mindedly on whatever is put in front of him. Not a fantastical type at all, by anyone's metric.
However, inborn talents will not be denied, and Scillamar clearly has a gift for foresight. Cards tend to fall into portentous patterns in his talons. Crystal balls gleam and glitter and almost seem to reveal their secrets to everyone around him. Tea leaves form such clear shapes that anyone could read them. Scillamar's practical nature wouldn't let him put aside something he so clearly had a talent for, so a fortune teller he became.
Just as he isn't willing to put on the airs and trappings associated with the usual variety of half-soothsayer, half-charlatan that most dragons are familiar with, Scillamar prefers to stay away from the more expected methods of telling the future. Oh, he can conjure a vision in a crystal if he's in a hurry, but he much prefers his personal set of rune-etched bones for more planned consultations. He didn't carve them himself, but used some of his first profits to have them crafted to his exact specifications. He won't say what the yellowed bones came from, but they seem far too small to be dragon bones, so most don't ask.
He would have been content to stay in his birth clan, had he not heard some of his clanmates speculating that the Shade that took so many clan members from them before he was even born could have tainted him in the egg, causing his so-called gift. Refusing to stay anywhere where people could believe that of him, he left the very same day.
