Avdimi

They had often heard rumors of this floating around their home clan, but they thought it was just a myth to keep them from wandering.

Avdimi was scared, but not as scared as his older brother. He soon became accustom to the thought of fighting, he didn't dislike it. If it kept him "safe" in this new area, what was the harm? He became rather good at sparring with the other younger dragons, those too young to be put into the real pits like himself. However, his sister didn't want them to suffer there. She snuck them out one night after months of being captive, but wasn't able to get out herself.
His older brother and he wandered away from the plague territory, and ended up in the shadow flight on their way back to try and find their clan and parents in nature's territory. He had to keep his brother under control, he was easily startled and the darkness of the tangled wood would make him collapse from anxiety. He had to be strong for both of them.
One night while they were making a place to camp out for a little while, a beast of some sort rushed at his brother, sending him fleeing into the dark. Terrified, he rushed to see what had happened, ready to fight. His brother was nowhere to be seen, yet he heard him shouting for him. He had fallen into a ditch that was hidden by the shadows. His wings were snagged on vines and the smell of blood made the young mirror reel backwards.
Despite the play fights, he had never smelled so much blood all at once.
He told his brother he would find help, and he took off.
He isn't sure which way he ran, but he wanted to get out of the tangled wood as soon as he could. He didn't stop running until his feet hit solid dirt. Dragonhome.
Seeing that he was free of the dark, he started crying for help. Only his voice echoing off the barren plain only came to him.
Exhausted and upset, he fell onto his side and cried himself to sleep. He didn't know how long he had been asleep before a sweet voice woke him up.
It was another dragon.
They were all black, and their wings seemed to have moving serpents that blended in with their dark colors. Their appearance frightened Avdimi, but their voice was gentle as it spoke to him again.
He tried to tell them about their brother, he tried to stand back up, but the new dragon's voice made his mind go blank. He doesn't remember now what the dragon said to him for the hours they spoke, but once they were finished, a new goal had taken over.
He was to find the shade.
He was to do what he could to bring it back.
He has no need to search for his old family, for now he is a child of the Shade.
