Where Faust hails from, no one can say. He appeared in the village square (still just a patch of dirt in those days) at the end of a particularly long, harsh winter, with Holloway at his side, and has remained in clan territory ever since. When asked his purpose, he replied, simply, that he had grown weary of wandering and wished to settle down somewhere neither he nor his partner would be disturbed.

Dreamweaver initially refused him entry. They sensed the darkness within his soul and knew at first glance what he was—a half-breed, a monstrous cross between demon and dragon, with power enough to rival even their own. No such beast could be allowed to mingle with their people, few though they were. His very presence was a plague, and they feared it would seep into the earth, poisoning it for all time.

However, Banrai's soft heart eventually won out over Dreamweaver's caution, and the pair was given a home on the village outskirts. As repayment for the founders' kindness, Faust serves as a ward against lesser demons and other black-hearted creatures. They dare not venture near, for they can sense his aura and know that it is powerful.

Now, many eons later, both he and Holloway are respected members of the community, and only outsiders to clan lands fear them in any great amount.
