Silvertongue

What was life, anyway, but a complex series of electrical responses? Silvertongue often laughed at the simplicity. She was a child of the Stormcatcher, surely she could harness the power of the storm for something so simple as the spark of life.

For years she toiled at just that. Her parents didn't understand - they came from a different world, a world of light and a world of sickness. They could never comprehend the power that hummed through her veins, that screamed you can do so much more than this.

And when her mother pleaded with her to give over these foolish ideas, to find a mate and settle down, maybe a nice Plague dragon to perhaps raise a few hatchlings with. Then she would be happier. In a way, she said, a mother creates life.

Silvertongue took her a bit too literally. She found a mate; or, at least, pieces of one. She gave him sharp claws and snapping teeth, sturdy metal bones and, just for fun, a glittering belly like her own. Finally, to appease her mother, she gave him ruby eyes. Her Golem was strong and quick. And the final touch, the jolt of life that everyone swore was impossible, the spark that glittered in the pits of his bloody eyes, kept him fierce and loyal at her side.

She and her new mate left the clan soon after, seeking a place they had heard about on the wind. A place of knowledge, and of power. A place where the secrets of the elements were studied and acknowledged. A place where a living, breathing Golem and his creator-bride could live in peace...
