Coalesced Shadows
Dark Sentinels of the Tangled Wood
"No secret is kept hidden for long."
It is said the first of these dragons were as statues shaped from the shadows themselves, their form chosen to toy with the Lightweaver’s children. They most often serve as guards to precious and secret places, blending in among the darkness until it is far too late for intruders to escape.
How cruel, then, is the fate that made her see him at the top of the staircase? How cruel to fall in love with one of those she was trained to hate?
It mattered. They would meet on the steps and spoke every evening, as the sun set and the moon rose. They fell in love and the meetings grew longer. And then one day Nyx feared for his life and her own. She was with egg... and the Guards were forbidden to have mates. And it was forbidden to come into contact with a Light dragon unless you were delivering the deathblow. So Nyx found an Ice mage and disguised herself, and asked the mage to make the eggs be ice.
She wouldn't seem him again. He would report her to try and save his own scales but for helping her would be killed.
