VASMIA
Progenitor of the Coilwing Clan
Vasmia did not seek out to become the leader of a clan, but became one regardless.
What family the nocturne may have had, she was never aware of--whether she was simply lost from a colony or cast out, unwanted, she will never know. Regardless, the solitude she grew up in guaranteed that she was vastly different from others of her kind, lost to their social behaviors and culture.
Mostly, all Vasmia has ever wanted in life was some peace and quiet.
Vas carved out a small nest for herself early in life in the base of what would eventually become the Coilwing Lair's cliffside, simply seeking makeshift shelter while she struggled to survive. She quickly learned the routine that allowed her to call the inhospitable conditions of the Shifting Expanse her home: Scavenge rather than hunt. Only move under cover of night. Use your small size to your advantage. Other dragons became a threat, a challenge, a thing to fear, and she had simply accepted that as a fact of her life.
When she met Kya, she thought she was done for. Instead, the two bonded over a shared mistrust of others, and found in each other something they each needed, no matter how much they didn't want to admit it:
A mutually beneficial relationship.
From there, more began to flock to their two-dragon lair, and before Vasmia knew it, years had passed and their clan was one to contend with. Despite her small size, she still holds command over her clan, and her brood members treat her with respect, recognizing that as long as they follow in her footsteps, they will continue to thrive.
Vasmia is a dragon of few words. She has no interest in social niceties, and the behavior of her species baffles her; as such, she prefers to stay away from them more than any other kind of dragon. She is frequently tired and short-tempered, and abhors wasting time or breath; she leaves such practices to the more sociable members of her clan, such as Lumi.
Despite her temper and her no-nonsense attitude, underneath the gruff exterior, Vasmia cares deeply for her clan. She simply shows it in the only way she knows how: by guaranteeing their further survival in the Expanse.
