Cavalera was hatched into an Ice Clan doing their best to get by on the Frigid Floes. They did their best for him for a while, but born into such a harsh environment with fragile and crippled wings made the rest of his clan sure he wouldn't make it long. When he was still a hatchling, they left to make camp elsewhere, and left him behind with the remains of the camp. It was only luck that a Beastclan passing through the area stopped to check for anything they could salvage. He was raised by several of the more sympathetic members with their own children, and tattooed his scales to match the colours of his Bonepriest family the moment they let him.
He was still young when his adopted family were killed by a dragon clan trying to claim the land in the name of their deity, and even though he eventually fought them off, in the end only he and his bonepriest brother survived.
They wandered Sornieth for many months, shunned by other dragons and beastclans alike until Bishop found them and brought them in.
He often struggles to communicate with his fellow clanmembers, upbringing leaving him mostly unfamiliar with Dragontongue and few of the clan have tried to learn the language of the Beastclans, but he's still almost unmatched among the clan's warriors.
