Quote:
"The dragon we're looking for now doesn't usually stay in the main lair." Gruuvae explained, as she flew ahead of you. Her feathers rippled in the winds gracefully, the sun shimmering glossily along her.
"Why not? Where does he live then?" You ask as you and the Skydancer ascended above the clouds. "He still lives with the clan, and on our territory. He comes back every night and stays until noon the next day." Gruuvae explained. "He's a very humble dragon. He cares both about the dead and the living equally. " You and Gruuvae landed on the dusty terrain. Pillars of rock were all around you, some going up into the clouds you cam from, others fallen and crumbled to the ground. "This place is eerily beautiful..." You whisper, following Gruuvae throw the maze of pillars until you come out to the other side. You see crosses and stones placed in rows; torn, faded banners hanging from a few. You see an Imperial moving through the rows, straightening out the markers and laying a bouquet of flowers at each one. "Grimly!" Gruuvae called out happily. The Imperial turned his head towards the voice, his Nature eyes glinting in the sunlight, they seemed out of place in the shadowy appearance he held. The Imperial opened up his large wings, and flew up to where you and Gruuvae were. "Hello there." He smiled warmly. "This is Grimly," introduced Gruuvae, waving her pay at the Imperial. "He takes care of the Graveyard Keep, where fallen dragons, both from our clan, and others, are buried under the ground. Grimly was always fascinated with the dead; and he wasn't always called Grimly either--his name was Falcon back then. Raised in a Nature clan where after a dragon died, they were buried and forgotten about. There was a superstition then, where if a living dragon visited the grave after someone had died, the someone they were visiting would rise up from the dead. Even so, Grimly visited the graves whenever he could, telling stories, talking about whats new in the clan, and preforming tricks for the dead, as if they were still alive. One day, however, his parents found out about his visits, and banned him from visiting the graves. He was guarded throughout the day, to make sure he didn't dare visit those graves. However, the guards, like most of the clan, went to sleep after sundown. Then, and only then, he was able to visit the dead, softly humming them songs now, in fear of the clan hearing him. Although one day, the leader of the clan found out, and banished him from the clan. What could one expect from a clan that despised Plague and Shadow dragons? He was classified as a disgrace to the clan. He changed his name from "Falcon" to "Grimly," in order to accommodate this new change in his life. He traveled far and wide, before coming to the Graveyard Keep. When he arrived, very few graves were actually there. The clan living there at the time, found him, and offered him a place within their holds. He refused, but composed an allegiance with the clan. He was their friend, and they his. However, once the clan died out, Grimly found himself lonely. A new clan came and another allegiance was made. The clan died out once again, he burying them. The cycled continued until a dark force came and wiped out the last clan mysteriously, leaving nothing behind but empty caves. Grimly felt as though no other dragon would come and visit him anymore. He couldn't even give the last clan a proper funeral, so he took an extremely long nap, falling asleep for centuries. That is, until the members of G'zair Clan came. Garept had wanted to expand their borders, and had discovered the Graveyard Keep, which was originally found by Gale as he was flying one day. All the commotion woke up Grimly. He was devastated that he had fallen asleep for so long, and had let the Graveyard fall into a sad despair. Garept explained that G'zair Clan had wanted to expand their borders. Grimly asked if the could leave the Graveyard Keep as it is, and that he could take care of it and restore it to its former Glory, which Garept had agreed to. Grimly now is a member of G'zair Clan, he has a family now, after having no family for so long. Even the previous clans living here didn't treat him as good as G'zair Clan. He's happy now. |
