Cynic

Seemingly resigned to his lot in life, this cursed fae just keeps chugging on. Listlessly going about tasks in and around the lair, he feels more like a maid than anything else. Fortunately, he has Tobin and Neville to lighten up his days. If it weren't for his best friends, he'd have given up a long time ago.

Cynic actually likes a lot of sour food, sometimes requesting to have his dishes extra sour during meals.

• Former resident of the Tangled Wood, Cynic is deeply tied to his place of birth. So it was rather lucky that he didn't need to move far when he joined Flaremist. Devoted to illustrious Shadowbinder, despite the curse she placed on him, the little dragon has nightly visits to a shrine he built for her in the woods outside the Land Faction's den. He leaves offerings of chess pieces, crow feathers and maple leafs as gift to the Shadow Goddess.
• Every day he gets a new shipment of white clothes and linens from Tobin to get colored. With vast vats of dyes and tubs of water, Cynic is glad his little clawed hands are black because otherwise they would be stained rainbow. Following the instructions to the T, he finds it hard to dye the clothes because they live so close to the water and the darkness of the Tangled Wood doesn't help dry them either. But despite having a hard time drying the newly dyed clothes, they do end up rather nice.

Somewhat of a lost child from the start, his parents were two beautiful creatures that hailed from great places and were to pass their linage to Cynic. But the child was cursed with misfortune from the beginning and was not the apple of his parents' eyes, cast out as a youth to find his own way.

He was found by a traveling Nevasca and brought before Ivette, the nocturne hoping she would allow the child into the clan. Instead she turned the snapper away and told him to escape to the clan's ally eastward, to the Sunbeam Ruins. Nevasca, regretful that his clan leader was harsh on the child, escorted Cynic to the Sunbeam Ruins and promised that one day he will return and bring the Shadow dragon back to Flaremist for another chance.

However, during his stay in the Light flight, Cynic was cursed by the Shadowbinder for allying with her shining rival.

Turned into a fae by his own goddess, Cynic was weak in spirit and felt he was forsaken. But fate did have something else in store. Morningstar of his host clan came to him and inspired him not to give up hope. That goodness and fortune will be his one day, and that he will be happy. With this, Cynic smiled sadly and gathered what little determination he had to continue on. The new fae felt a bond grow between himself and the coatl, loving her as a friend and savior.

Eventually the time came and Nevasca came back to retrieve Cynic from the Sunbeam Ruins, bringing him back to Flaremist. This time Ivette accepted Cynic into their fold and assigned him work to help the clan prosper. Cynic has very few things in regards to personal belongings but feels as if his has a lot in terms of gratitude.
