Biography

Swaddled in silks and laden with gems strung on gold, the Childlike Empress draws reverent stares wherever she travels. Underneath her finery the other dragons sense her deeply held secret. She shares nothing about herself or her past, or the reason she wandered in, a beautiful stranger, ragged and heartsick after months in the wilds.

Her deeply religious clan was wiped out by an illness spread by blood rituals. Cocooned in an Ivory Tower, the Childlike Empress was barely spared. Feverish and near death, her guards locked her in her chambers and spelled the exits to remain closed until the danger had passed. In their zealous fever dream they imagined her chambers full of food and water. They were wrong. In the nightmarish weeks that passed, the Childlike Empress starved. Her mouth was so parched with thirst that she feared her tongue would crumble out through her lips as dust. Her dreams were tormented and fractured by the groans of her dying people.

It was as she lay clinging to life, her wings translucent as spidersilk, that the spelled doors finally cracked open with an anti-climactic hiss. The last of her clan had died, and with it the deadly contagion. An awakened familiar helped the Childlike Empress drag herself to water. The pain of moistening her cracked and bleeding mouth made her weep in agony and relief.

The Empress toured her devastated homestead, directing familiars in the grim task of burying the dead. When the last of her people returned to the Earthshaker's domain, the Childlike Empress slumped to the ground bonelessly. Her final duty as the spiritual leader of people was complete. Only now would she allow herself to die.

The familiars would have none of it. They convinced her to stay alive long enough to help them find a new lair, full of dragons to watch over them. Never one to shirk duty, the Childlike Empress joined them on a journey to find a new home. Along the way, the familiars reminded their Empress of the joys of living, and the possibility of finding solace in duty elsewhere. Shattered by the consequences of using blood rituals and magic, the Empress was forced to reevaluate everything about the faith she'd been raised to believe in.

By the time the weary and heartsick travelers reached the Focal Point, Empress had made peace with the fact that she had survived. She made a pact with herself to never take a mate, never have a child. When she passes, she intends to take all knowledge of her clans existence and beliefs with her.

Since joining Acencia's clan in the Focal Point, ChildlikeEmpress has joined an arena team. Her sister sorceress, Nimisha, has become a friend and confidant. After a day of pitched battle in the Coli, the ladies swap stories about their very different upbringings and their surly battle companion, Scorpius.

Meeting her Companions:

Frustrated with the broken friendships of her childhood (for Nimisha gave her heart to no drake), Nimisha took flight and left her Water clan. While flitting about looking for trouble to get into in the Focal Point, Nimisha encountered another fae named, of all the silly things, ChildlikeEmpress. Empress was a bright and beautiful orphan, with fathomless Shadowed eyes. Nimisha's playful mischievousness wiped some of Empress' sadness away.

Together they played silly pranks, and explored forbidden areas, daring each other to greater danger. One day the lone poisonous torridae they were baiting in his den turned out to be not so alone. Surrounded and grounded the terrified duo screamed their defiance and resolved to embrace death fighting, even though terror threatened to overwhelm them.

Unbeknownst to them, a grizzled warrior by the name of Scorpius was nearby. A loner by nature, Scorpius eschewed clan life. He had spotted the impetuous women entering the torridae den and recognized it as a dangerous rookie move.

However, such was his nature that he wanted them good and scared before he rushed to the rescue. When he heard their terrified screams of rage and defiance, he barreled into action, bursting into the torridae den and ripping the unfortunate creatures apart. It was over quickly but horrifically.

In the aftermath Childlike Empress and Nimisha were left blood spattered and blinking at the wild, wooley stranger in their midst. With a snort of disgust, Scorpius shooed the girls out of the den and proceeded to berate them every flap of the flight back to their clan. Much to his dismay, the ladies dragged him into their home, fed him and tended his wounds. He snarled and growled and snapped, but with the greatest reluctance he slowly allowed himself to enjoy their ministrations. He firmly drew the line at joining the clan. Living in a lair with a bunch of other dragons? No sir, that's disgusting.

Despite his gruff exterior, the girls came to adore him. Together they formed a coli team. Scorpius insisted that it was because he didn't want to ever have to sully his furs saving their worthless tails, and the girls were kind enough to let him believe it.
