~Back Story~
“What an empty little valley.” Fervent said, making her way through one of the many nooks and crannies in the Wandering Contagion, looking for trinkets and treasures to collect and sell. Fervent had left her home in the Sleepy Forest, finding it a little boring amongst the Coatls and Tundras, and longed to see other places. She wanted to explore, and to battle, and to see the world!
Wearing her hiking gear she had bought in the Cairnstone Rest, she had also picked up a lantern and small little light so she could explore the many caves and caverns in the Earth Flight. Looking for more of a challenge than just collecting gems, she headed South to the Plague Flight, hoping to see the bone collection the plague dragons so bragged about, and to see the Grand Coliseum and battlegrounds they boasted were the best out of all the lands.
She had made her way to a small little valley she had seen on a map, thinking not many dragons would be wanting to explore it. Going into a grotto, she was met with a horrid smell of a great toxic pit. Adjusting her mask to help keep the poisonous fumes out, she noticed something shiny on one of the recesses between the bones of the pit. Curious, she made her way over, she pushed some of the bones off of a pile of treasure, looking like it was filled mostly of bird bones. Fervent hiss in glee, knowing these could sell to the right buyer, especially the alchemists in the more populated areas.
“W-wait!” Fervent heard a small squeaking behind above her. Sitting near the top of the toxic pit was a small Fae dragon. “P-please. Those are mine.”
“Oh, I didn’t know this pit was occupied.” Fervent looked around, noticing there was really no indications that anyone lived here. “You sure you live here? There’s nothing here.”
“Yes. We moved in just yesterday...No one was here so…” The little Fae climbed out and over the pile of bones, slithering her way down to the pile. “I-I’m sorry. Please, this is all we have.” the Fae dragon rubbing at her face, a large scratch running across her face and snout.
“You alright? That needs to be treated.” Fervent taking a closer look at the wounds. noticing it looked like it had closed for the most part, but the chances of it getting infected in this area was quite high.
“I-I’m fine.” The Fae squeaked out, trying to hide it with its front claw. “It was an accident.”
“You sure?” Fervent waited a moment, but went into her sack and pulled out a red cloth with some potion. “Time to clean and bandage it. It’ll get infected.”
“That’s...what Plaguelings do.” The small Fae said and started giggling at its own sad attempt at a joke.
“Right, now stay still.” Fervent climbing up slightly to get closer to the small green Fae. The Fae flinched slightly, but let the larger Coatl apply the potion, closing her eyes. Taking off the mask off her face, she used her mouth to help wrap the red cloth around the Fae’s head. She knew she wasn’t doing that great of a job, but it was the best she could do.
“There. Now you’ll be fine.” Fervent said as she put the rest of the potion on top of the Fae’s small Hoard. “You can use that.”
“T-thank you.” The Fae said, feeling the red cloth on her face, adjusting it slightly so it wouldn’t fall in her eye. “Would, would you like to stay the night? It...it will be dark soon. We...we have some fish. I...I think Coatl’s like those…”
“Hmmm…” Fervent, never refusing an invitation for free food. “I will stay then.” Looking at the sky, and sure enough the sky was starting to go dark. It was hard to tell with all the smoke and clouds here in the Plague Flight.
“O-okay. I-I’m glad.” The little Fae said, starting to climb all the way down, and started walking around the toxic pit. “This way. I-I’m Zoa. That’s my name.” The little Fae looking down at the ground.
“They call me Fervent.” Following Zoa, noticed a larger sleeping Mirror near a pile of bones, made out to be a nest. She was distracted though as she smelled some fish wafting in the air. “How much fish are we talking about?”
