Despite his riotous colors, Prism is a serious, conscientious dragon with an empirical mind who prizes logic and rationality above all else.

Prism was born into an Ice clan that made its home in the harsh environs of the Cloudscape Crags. When the clan leaders received a vision from the Lightweaver and announced that the clan was being called to the Sunbeam Ruins, Prism refused to follow. He was skeptical of the existence of the elemental deities outside of legend and unwilling to submit to leadership based on prophecies.

Alone for the first time in his life, Prism knew that he wouldn't be able to survive the winters of the Southern Icefields without a clan, and so he traveled north towards warmer climes. After a brief stay with a Water clan in the crushing depths of the Spiral Keep, he made his way to the territory governed by Zakodan on the Sea's eastern shore. He decided to stay after learning about the clan's strong tradition of scholarship from the clan's scholar Akkidlil and its inventor Myoun.

Prism initially had a rather chilly relationship with the clan's many oracles, priests, and sorcerers, but he became curious about the relationship between magic and science after watching Myoun infuse her inventions with magic. He has worked with the clan's Sea Seer and its sorceress to devise exciting experiments that seek to quantify the mystical.

Ordinarily very level-headed, he can be rather melodramatic when an experiment does not go according to plan. He has a hard time communicating with the clan's other Nocturnes in their shared native tongue due to his strong Ice accent.

His maternal grandmother is a first-generation dragon.
