Kali has a big gay crush on Narcissa. They hunt together, and they get grossed out at each other's eating habits, but they have decided 'to each her own' and commonly share prey.
kali's charge was a wolf. the solitary red wolf used to live just outside her den and prowl around at night, killing animals that come through and leaving carcasses at the edge of camp. after she found that the wolf was her charge, it took months of careful taming and bonding to ensure he would stay with her. she named the wolf: 'Lepora'. Lepora learned that Kali was friendly, and he became something of a pet - hunting alongside Kali, and they shared prey and defended each other.
but, as all things less hardy than dragons do, the wolf died. she found his corpse laid out at the entrance to her den early one morning, cold. at some point he had realized he was approaching the end of his lifespan, and he curled up at the home of the one who had protected him so well all his life.
unwilling and unable to let go so easily, kali gently and carefully skinned her charge and fashioned a cape from the pelt. she now wears the cape permanently, and can be heard commenting on things to the cape as though it was alive. it's kind of unsettling, but not malevolent, and it's simply a comfort to her.
She spends her non-coliseum time hunting with her mate Narcissa or overseeing the training of fledgeling warriors. She isn't the most... forgiving teacher, but she has very effective combat skills and she loves fighting, so most go to her if they want to become a fighter.
allegedly, nests hatch which have her as the biological mother. she vehemently denies this, as the father is sinew, a constantly caged Wasteland monster -- no way she would ever lay a nest with him. regardless, that's what biology dictates, so everyone has decided there is some sort of strange wyrmwound magic at work. kali, not the mothering type, usually leaves the hatchlings to be raised communally by the clan.
