Gummy

Gummy just wants to have fun. He’s a childish dragon who doesn’t plan on growing up. His only goal in life is to have a good time. He rarely catches his own food, preferring to playfully nab food from his clan mates just as they are about to take a bite. Because he was so cute, they put up with it for a couple weeks, but it got old very fast. Now he generally has to pout and stare at his clan mates until one feels sorry enough to share their meal, at which point Gummy instantly perks up.

But Gummy’s favorite treat is, of course, bubblegum. He can’t get enough of it. It’s the one thing he’ll do actual work to obtain, going to great lengths to find it. He scours the marketplace daily to replenish his supply. He chews most of what he buys, but he has built up a small horde for himself, just in case something should go wrong.

It was during one of these trips that he met his familiar, Speedy. He was at his usual stall when he noticed that his pile of gum seemed just a bit smaller. He looked around, but didn’t notice anyone suspicious. He turned back to pay for his supply, blowing a huge bubble as he did so. Suddenly, he noticed a flash of white from the corner of his eye. He turned, a little too quickly, and overbalanced. He landed face – or rather bubble – first, popping his gum and covering his white scales in a sticky, pink mess.

He looked up and noticed an albino hedgehog a little ways away. It almost looked like… was he laughing at Gummy? Gummy growled and sprang to his feet. The hedgehog gave a squeak of fear and fled, Gummy hot on his heels. They flitted through other dragons’ legs and under stalls, upsetting several displays. Finally, Gummy took a chance and pounced, grabbing the little creature. They stared at each other for a moment, unsure of what to do. Then Gummy burst out laughing. It was the best fun he’d ever had. The two have been together ever since.
