NEREUS: Greek name derived from the word neros "water," hence "wet one." In mythology, this is the name of a god of the sea.

"Lilypond Subspecies"

A Lilypond Dragon is a hybrid Water-Nature subspecies, though they are naturally Water-born with a strong affinity towards the Nature Flight. That is to say, Lilyponds CAN have Nature eyes and be a Nature dragon with a powerful connection to Water, but this is rare indeed!

Lilypond dragons have a very strict color range - Denim primary, Caribbean secondary, and Jungle tertiary. The only differing factors are breed, gender, and rarely, secondary gene.

Lilyponds come in 6 different breeds - Mirrors, Guardians, Spirals, Ridgebacks, Imperials and Wildclaws, each with a distinct variation in behaviors and personalities.

Lore

Cool blue body and shining, rippling wings, mottled with gemstones that look like lilypads on the water. Lilypond Dragons, while they love and adore their natural birthflight of Water, have a strong connection to the Nature Flight, so much so that they consider themselves a hybrid, and many will learn the customs and even magic of the Viridian Labyrinth, making them perfect Ambassadors for Water-Nature communications.

As a Water dragon, they naturally enjoy water in all its forms - however, they have a preference for streams, rivers and brooks, over wide open seas and oceans. They will oftentimes create new streams and pools in front of the lair of their clan, decorating the water with aquatic plants and lilypads.

Lilypond dragons are typically peaceful subspecies, with a stronger connection to aesthetics and design over battling. They also have an affinity for faefolk, and are more often than not in contact with sprites, nymphs, dryads and pixies.
