CARMINE the Unbreakable

One of the few survivors of The Pit, and hatched in its influence, Carmine and her two sisters hatched sickly. Carmine had the worst of it, with raw veins and scaleless, translucent skin exposed to the air. Hers was a life of misery, pain, and fatigue... and likely one of brevity as well. As her parents slowly went mad and disappeared into the blighted landscape, pulled by some alien function in their minds, it fell on Star to care for his sisters. He vowed wellness for them someday. Wellness finally came in the arrival of the three scientists.

With alchemagick, they said, anything is possible. Anything transmutable. Transfer matter into yourself. Transfer the life of another creature into your own and be healed. But be warned... It is a fledgling science. All attempts have had some strange flaw. But it is this or certain death for you.

Carmine volunteered to undergo the ritual first, as she had not much longer to live. On her shaky, bony legs, she stood before The Rift, in a huge magic circle drawn on the ground, surrounded by strange alchemical equipment, priceless gems, and lightning rods. She held her trembling familiar clutched to her chest. To comfort it, or to ensure it would not escape?

She doesn't remember the ritual. She couldn't really parse what was happening. Her vision was never good before the transmutation. Then, suddenly... It was excellent.

No. It was too good. It was wrong. She was seeing colors outside the spectrum. She was seeing runes and spellwork hanging in the air. She was seeing the magnetism of Sornieth. The Rift burned when she turned her gaze to it. Her eyes burned. All her eyes burned.

Eyes. Too many. Too many.

Carmine must wear a blindfold over all but her 'normal' eyes. It will be quite some time, if ever, for her mind to adjust to the new, extreme amount of data that her sight can bring her. But she doesn't mind. She can run. She can fly. She can breathe. She can see. She will live forever. She has thrown her newfound life into doing the bulk of the hunting for the clan, finding her new form to be virtually impervious to damage.

But she misses her fading sisters.
