Lyseria before she was poisoned

Lyseria Job title Mate of Venenum | Shy | Observant | Self-critical | When Lyseria first entered the Reisende clan she didn't speak to any of her fellow clan members and was gradually left alone in the hope that in time she would feel more comfortable communicating. There was one dragon though, Venenum, who noticed that she showed an interest whenever he prepared a new potion, poison or brew. Lyseria, wanting to learn more about what he made, would come to watch him every day and soon Venenum tried to engage her more. He would set her small tasks like helping cut up some plants or grind horns to dust. As the days passed Lyseria smiled more and sought out Venenum during meal times.

One night, after the rest of the clan members had gone to sleep, Lyseria went back to Venenum's (brewing place). She had been thinking for the last few weeks about looking for a cure to her shyness as she'd found an old book in Venenum's collection which had a promising title. The problem was that she couldn't ask to borrow it to look inside and so she had come to the conclusion that going back at night to read it was the solution. Upon opening it she found pages covered in messy handwriting and began to search. There were potions that caused uncontrollable smiling, talking... not what she was looking for. Losing hope she turned the last page, scanning it for anything that might be useful. In small script, different from the rest of the writing, was a recipe that didn't have a name. It's only description was "For those who wish to make friends." Not recognising most of the ingredients but hoping they were in Venenum's stock she decided to try making it.

... Seeing that it was nearly sunrise she quickly took it off the fire to let it cool. She needed to hurry if she wanted to drink it before the others woke up. It still hadn't cooled completely but it wouldn't burn her now. Taking a cup she scooped the contents of the cauldron into it and drank the purple liquid in three gulps. The taste was peculiar and while she tried to describe the taste she also waited to see what effect it would have. Seeing as there hadn't been any mention of what the actual effect it was supposed to have Lyseria didn't know what to expect. After a few minutes her tongue started feeling heavy and her skin tight. It was working! The feeling gradually became uncomfortable though and soon had Lyseria seeking water. When she got to the bucket of fresh water she noticed an odd discoloration on her face. There were dark patches blooming all over her face and her crystal skin had lost most of its sparkle. Panicking she drank as much water as she could, hoping to dilute the substance she had drunk before. Her throat was swelling up and she was having trouble breathing. What was the antidote? The room started to look darker even though she knew that the sun was rising outside. Falling to the ground she tried calling out but no sound came. The room started to close in around her and all she could think about was how stupid she had been. As her vision blackened the last thing she heard was Venenum's name in a tiny, cracked voice. The first thing she felt was numbness which soon became an intense burning cold. Her whole body seized and she had no control over her movements. Her name was being called... loudly and she recognised it to be Venenum's voice. There were other voices too but she couldn't focus on what they were saying. Something was forced into her mouth but she couldn't open her eyes to see who by. A foul tasting substance managed to trickle past her throat and she gagged. Someone pushed her onto her side just before she started throwing up. Her stomach and throat felt ripped to shreds as watery purple liquid was expelled through her mouth. She could hear the worry in Venenum's voice and wondered when he had found her. He kept asking her if she was able to move and see. Trying to open her eyes she managed to make out Venenum's face hanging over hers. Blinking back the blur her eyes focused on his and she saw tears ready to fall. She tried smiling next to communicate that she was okay. Seeing this Venenum gave a watery smile as a tear ran down his face to land on her forehead.
