Balthier is the dragon the Clan calls upon when a ceremony is needed to be preformed. Balthier specializes in many different types of rituals and ceremonies- Worship sessions, matrimony, honorings; even sacrifices. When asked why these are his specialties, the imperial will simply reply with a crooked smile, and say "I'm a priest of sorts." Balthier has always been a bit of an odd, mysterious dragon, at least to those within the Clan. What many don't know is this Imperial was once a worshipper of the Gladekeeper, but a young age for unknown reasons, left his old clan in the dead of the night for the Earthclans. The Clan stumbled upon the dark imperial standing upright and still in the middle of the lands, close to nowhere. Of course, the clan didn't just take him in-he convinced them to. Balthier talks of his love and constant worship to the Earthshaker more than what many dragons would consider normal; he also will often preform religious ceremonies on the outskirts of the Clan by himself, which seems to consist of standing in a circle of things gathered from the clan, and muttering to himself. Sometimes others will join him in this odd ceremony; sometimes they don't. Some believer Balthier still secretly has some loyalty to the Gladekeeper, due to the flower crown he refuses to take off his head, and has had on since he came. Either way, the imperial seems to be bent on being the dragon who is most loyal to the deities. Balthier is an eccentric sort of dragon. He isn't 'officially' apart of the clan, but is often found within the clan walls when he isn't doing some sort of 'ritual'. Little is known of Balthier, aside from the fact that he is very formal when addressing other dragons, and has deep knowledge of magic and enjoys making candles from the wax of Clarity's bee hives. Balthier is quite reclusive, but that doesn't mean he isn't friendly. Those looking to learn of magic that goes past combat will find a very eager tutor. |
