After a few more moons, though, the Imperial became curious with the other lands surrounding the sea. He climbed ashore of the Sunbeam Ruins and began to explore the broken and still crumbling architecture. His curiosity peaked by the fallen and broken buildings, Casius began to gather broken pieces of the ruins to try and decipher their meanings and the historical significance of the surely once proud city. He became quite a collector of runes etched into the broken cobblestones. His curiosity, though, stretched even farther than Ruins. The sight of the misty evergreens and pines beside the Ruins drew his attention. After wondering and musing about the nearby woods, he made a decision to venture into them as well. So he entered the Tangled Wood, entranced by the deep, impenetrable mist and baffled by the dragons that lived there. He was soon confronted by the then only warrior of the Witching Hour Clan, Valentia. Unbeknownst to Casius, he had trespassed on the territory on the Witching Hour. He did not fight the Guardian as she brought him to the camp and before Vigolfr to explain himself, and explain he did. Elucidating himself as only a curious dragon without a clown exploring things unknown to him and meaning no harm to anyone, certainly not the young dragons in the Witching Hour hatchery or anyone else. Believing his truth, Vigolfr welcomed him to the clan and gave him permission to return to their lands to explore the shadowy undergrowth without worry of attack. |

Cas officially became a Warrior within the clan, though he was more of a Scholarly type. While he was trained to fight to protect the Clan, he didn’t give up any of his curiosities or his studies of the Wood. He soon added historical scrolls to the small hoard in his nest, studying from them instead of traveling to seek out information on his own. During the time of his stay, Sydonia hatched from her egg. Casius quickly became friends with her and took responsibility for watching her while her parents did their jobs within the clan. He taught her to read and to write, reading to her from his many scrolls. He also became close friends with the brothers Sabriel and Ignazio, becoming a shoulder for them and sharing his scholarly interests with them. A few short moons after his joining of the clan, while going down to the shores of the river delta, Casius discovered the Pearlcatcher, Astris, floundering upstream. He watched the struggling dragon for a small while before flying down to him to help him from the water. Astris, a small and weak Pearlcatcher that hadn’t had a good meal in days, was easy to take pity upon. Casius carried Astris back to the Witching Hour camp and took him under his wing, sharing a nest with him and nursing him back to health with the permission of Vigolfr. He shared his scrolls with Astris and helped him to establish a role in the clan, soon becoming mates with him. |
