Carnelian {Bleeder} Odd-Jobs ☿ Ulyette
Loyal | Quiet | Strange
Carnelian came to Midnight and Moonsong from an encompassing shroud of mystery.
Not much is known as to where he hailed from or how his body came to be racked with never-healing, weeping wounds. Getting information or explanation from this Dragon is like pulling teeth. He does not speak, either because he doesn't want to or he simply can't due to the nature of his afflictions. If he is in pain he does not show it outwardly, though this could again just be due to his inability to communicate. Many have tried to coax explanation out of him with quill and ink, but this Dragon refuses to write for one reason or another. |
Despite his constant state of injury, he seems to be able-bodied and willing to help where he can, often searching out jobs that none of the other Moonsong have the time to complete on their own. His fingers are deft and he is capable of understanding and following detailed instructions, written or verbal, without mistake, though not many take advantage of this due to the smears of fresh blood he tends to leave behind and the stigma of his silence equating to ignorance.
The only Dragon who seems to appreciate his earnest nature is Ulyette, Compassionate Saltigue of the Mercurial branch of Midnight and Moonsong. He finds comfort with the small Leader, often trailing her like some sort of shadow or lost puppy. She, in turn, tends to his wounds- replacing bloodied bandages and applying ointment to the deepest of his various lesions. Where others recoil from his touch, she savours it and lets him know how valuable he is to the clan. Carnelian is ever-indebted to Ulyette and would give his life for her without a second thought, which is often a worry for anyone who crosses the Saltigue's path.
Though docile by nature, this Dragon has shown exemplary skill in fighting. He does not seem to posses any magical ability, but his claws and sheer strength are a worthy adversary against even the most skilled of magic casters. Fighting is a last-resort tactic. Carnelian would much rather submit or flee than stand and fight, despite his innate strength.
It is speculated that he is a survivor of some forgotten war because of this behaviour, or that he was some sort of experimental sentry that escaped captivity. These are all grounded in whispers and theories, however, and Carnelian doesn't seem to be eagerly waiting to answer the flurry of questions that surround him and his curious history.
Shortly after he arrived to Midnight and Moonsong his Mother, Father, and Sister appeared on the precipice of their lands. Like Carnelian himself, no party speaks and all bear the strange everlasting damages that cover the most of their bodies (to varying degrees).
Ulyette has taken them all into her Care and Sanctuary until she can unravel the mysteries of their injuries.
