Michi was lost. She did not know where she was. Up in the sky, dark clouds gathered. A storm was coming, and she had nowhere to seek shelter at. Although born Lightning, she had always been terrified by storms and lightning. Now, the sight of the dark, rolling mass made her nearly cry out in fear. She was far from home, in the Ashfall Waste. Not being a fan of fire either, she huddled next to a rock and tried to calm herself.

"What are you doing?" a soft voice called. It was a male Coatl. His flaming feathers contrasted his green Nature eyes. "It's not good to be out in a storm like this. Jadinesent me to get all strays in camp." Looking up to the sky, he added, "Seems like a big storm too. Come, let me get you to our camp. It's not far, at the Emberglow Hearth." Seeing the sky and the kind Coatl's eyes, Michi had to agree.

In the camp, it was warm, warmer than the outside, the Emberglow Hearth. Dragons bustled by and by, doing their own chores. The leader, a green and yellow Guardian, went around telling dragons to prepare for the storm.

The Coatl settled down and brought her some food. She ate it gratefully. "What's you name? I'm Fireshimmer," the Coatl said. "Michi," she replied after swallowing.

After the storm, Michi decided to stay. Before long she had a nest with Fireshimmer that bore two baby Skydancers, Rosespeckle and Bloodred. Both went to serve the Flamecaller upon adulthood.

Michi was heartbroken the day Kesthul came. Fireshimmer fussed over her much more than he had over Michi. She was sure that Fireshimmer was gone from her life forever. She watched their first nest of four baby Coatls grow and leave, as her own had done. But she was not to be comforted.

Then she was put into the care of a young Skydancer male named Miernten. She knew Meirnten liked her, but she could not bear having a second heartbreak. Before long, Meirnten left the clan, and Goldenstar the Skydancer became leader.

One day, she met Dalmarith scavenging near her clan territory. She went to talk to him, and she liked him the way she had with Fireshimmer. Dalmarith treated her nicely, more than Fireshimmer did. She settled down and prepared to have a nest with Dalmarith, a Skydancer she was sure she could trust forever.
