Murphy has been with the Clan for a very long time. She originally comes from a very dry area in Dragonhome that is close to the Nature domain. She is an expert for both flora and fauna and was the Clan's gardener for a long time. The move to the Tangled Wood was a drastic change for her since she thrives on sunlight and warmth. So she started training Piper to take over so she could eventually retire from her role and move on to more fitting areas for her.

She is still held up in the Tangled Wood right now. Piper has mostly taken over the care for the area's plant population but her expertise in herbs and healing plants and animals is unmatched and Yindy is constantly begging her to stay until the Clan finds a replacement. Especially since Piper started experimenting with plants to worrying degrees. The Clan has brought Anise onto the job who is fitting in a lot better but her training will take a while and the concern for Piper's activities is growing stronger every day.
