"Once a queen, always a queen"

The ground desiccated and crackled, scattered with carcasses of fallen warriors. Air filled with unsettled dust, moon high in the night, shadows bustling throughout the sky, only illuminated by the slight fire they emitted from their mouths. Screeches and sequels besieged the vacant space.

Poison ivy twisted up lifeless tree trunks, thorns jabbing at who every conjectured close enough. The terrain was unforgiving. Many were too petrified to step foot here, where the darkness rules. Scouts patrolled the borders, watching, waiting. Elk would wander near, providing a meal or two, otherwise there was nothing. The creatures here were trained predators; nothing hoisted a chance alongside them.

Through the haze of the vulgar shrieks, a single, treacherous, wildclaw appeared. Her scales aligned in perfect order, black scales radiating against the moonlight, her coat as dark as her heart. Claws sharp as blades, feet padding against the rigid earth with each stride she took. Icy white eyes scanning each dragon she passed, a skull as a headdress, coated in blood, crown fitted to the side. Antlers worn from her sufferers were placed next to her horns, ivory and strong.

Her name is Dentanus, the roughest, most ruthless dragon in the land. Others quivered in her presence, lost for words at her greatness. Always ready for a fight, teeth piercing. Her wrath unending, fierce as fire. Snappers, almost too fat to fly, Skydancers, their giant wings flapping, and all other dragons observing their queen stride down the aisle, battered with poor unfortunate souls who couldn’t escape in time. Skeletons and blood spattered across the plague lands.

Dentanus, wings spread wide in dominance, sauntered to her throne, silver forged by dragon’s breath, glistening with the stars above, mirroring its surroundings. Stillness. Eyes gawking at the prominent female, ebony as the night itself.

This was her land, this was her clan, and this was her empire.
