Explorer of the Plague Fen |
Ampere, being the curious and intelligent snapper she is, set out on a journey to discover more about life than the home from whence she came. Her journeying eventually took her to a fold in her path. She could choose a road less traveled that had the beginnings of a ripe stench.. or she could walk towards a calm, tranquil beachfront. The decision weighed hard on Ampere. Should she go to a beach? She knew what they were like.. she was there before. Should she go to this new place? It kinda smelled bad.. Ampere then focused her gaze, pushed her little hat forward, and trudged off into the direction of the growing smell. After all, she had come out in search of knowledge and adventure! The dragon reasoned that a dragon really couldn't learn from things they had already done before. The curious snapper soon found herself knee deep in the virulent waters of the Plague Fen. Unbeknownst to her she was being watched. While sampling some of the local delicacies, mushrooms and eel, she began to notice a strange yipping noise similar to hunting canines. The snapper lifted her wings and stood her ground, ready to fight. Six pairs of four eyes slowly surrounded her, their ravenous mouths gnashing pearly white teeth. Despite the immediate threat, Ampere stood her ground. Daughter of a tinkerer, Ampere had to think of something quick to save her hide. The snapper did what any snapper would do in such a situation.. she began to rattle off how it was scientifically impossible that such a location and place should exist outside of foul magic. The resulting rapid rattling off of a scientific explanation of the Plague Fen caused chaos and pandemonium. Surely someone faced with looming death wouldn't be so fearless of a roving pack of Mirror dragons? The Mirrors quickly herded the snapper by a series of surrounding, yapping, nipping, and snarling to their Matriarch, Bloodstone. Perched upon her rock on high, Bloodstone presided over the raucous accounts of the snapper dragon. Bloodstone laughed in utter disbelieve at her underlings for even though some still hatchlings, they were all fierce hunters. The Matriarch then turned to the snapper and inquired upon the conversation herself. Naturally Ampere, although quite nervous, began to rattle off her scientific observations of the Plague Fen as she saw them. Bloodstone and the surrounding dragons stared, opened jawed, at the snapper who was fearlessly rattling off information. In the midst of her diatribe concerning mushrooms of exceeding heights and gravity, the Clan's Scribe, Ablepsy, stopped her mid conversation. Ablepsy's fingers were cramping and unable to transcribe any more information. She looked at Bloodstone with a worried look. Bloodstone looked to the snapper and back at her clan and sighed. Ampere was quickly voted in as a new Clan member, her ability to spread panic and confusion her chief asset. Joyously, Ampere accepted her newfound family, enjoying the ability to explore and learn about the new area in which she lived. Although the call to home and places unknown beckons her with each growing day, Ampere stays within the swamps of the Plague Fen learning as much as she can while also snacking on the occasional eel.
