"Morpheus is the god of dreams. Morpheus has the ability to mimic any form and to appear in dreams. His true semblance is that of a winged daemon, an imagery shared with many of his siblings."

"Morpheus was the leader of the Oneiroi, the gods or spirits (daimones) of dreams. He manifested himself in the dreams of kings and rulers in the likeness of men as a messenger of the gods."

He, along with his brother, Hypnos (and the other Oneiroi), brings dreams and sleep to mortals, and is commonly referred to as "the sandman".
