Children of esteemed Lady Voidis, a Nature-turned-Plague Mage with powerful magic, it was evident from the beginning that all five children could not stay, for the sake of their clan.
Most magic users are prone to dangerous 'accidents' in childhood, and any children of Voidis would be powerful indeed. Amethyne, Head Mage of the Plagued Breeze, decided the children must be sent to other clans whilst still young as emissaries of peace and goodwill. Voidis rather surprisingly agreed, and four of the five siblings were taken far from the lair, to be found by roving scouts from other clans. With them was a simple note:
The oldest boy but overall middle child, Phaeton did not display much magical affinity at first, leading to much teasing from his clutchmates. Despite his non-magical appearance the Mages decided it would be best if he still left the nest for fear his magic would manifest rather explosively as he grew. It was only shortly before his older sister left when Voidis noticed flowers he had been playing with never seemed to die. Indeed, Phaeton was a talented enchanter, able to transfer his magic into other objects to give them new properties.
With his resourceful nature and powerful magical protection, Voidis was confident enough to let him choose which path he took from the edge of the Wandering Contagion before she left again, sure he would find his way to a clan.
