He's a performer by day, and a hunter at night. With dark feathers as a guise under the light of the shining moon, Shale is the living proof that being a coatl with a dull coat isn't all that bad. His rather large wings render great lift and provide increased agility. Shale is an experienced flier and gives flight training to any and all newborns.

He is rivals with Plommon, a diver, who like him takes interest in testing one's physical abilities. They are best friends.

Amarok is his adopted son, found when he was on a scouting mission in plague territory in preparation for the clan's great migration from light to arcane territory. He couldn't just leave him there to die in the wastes, and took it upon himself to raise the child, despite being ordered into quarantine by the clan leader Majoja as a measure to protect the clan against the plague hatchling's disease. Shale was used to being mocked and outcasted, due to his dull coat as a coatl, and he was determined to help the child, his SON, to the best of his limited ability.
